Paris concept shop Colette has always practiced a simple approach to stocking their famously eclectic wares:
"We just feature everything we like!" says Sarah, Colette's artistic director and daughter of its namesake. This week, that means turning the Rue Saint-Honore store into an homage to all things Simpsons to celebrate the arrival of The Simpsons Movie, which hits both French and U.S. theaters this Friday. The store's windows will be filled with memorabilia devoted to the cartoon family, like limited-edition sneakers, Pez dispensers, dinner plates, and games. Colette also invited 20 French artists, including Bruno Peinado and SoandSau, to create their own interpretations of a Bart Simpson doll. If it seems like an unlikely marriage between low culture and high fashion, it is: "Fox couldn't really understand why we would want the Simpsons in a fashion shop," Sarah said. "But for me, the Simpsons deserve their place everywhere!"
